Listen
When I do not talk to you,
listen
To the burning cries of regrets
Within my being,
nurse the part of me that always weeps
despite laughter, despite love.
when I say no
Do not go away;
Just settle
Calmly
In this nagging room of loneliness
where I take several steps
In restless fury
through Saturdays and Sundays,
all holidays and some nights
Looking for a window
to dazzle
my sleeping potential
and stop counting
failures.
When I pick up a baton and hit,
my sweating palms,
against the wall
and let out a shriek
at dead hours,
don’t become breathless.
This is not madness –
and I do not need treatment
just listen
to my fears
when I do not talk to you.
