The pleasure of meeting Audrey Magee

I had blogged about meeting her in July at Armagh during my residency at the JHSS. You can read them here. I promised I would be back with interviews with her.

In the first interview that I did for moneycontrol, Magee talks about her book and her craft as a writer of fiction after years working as a journalist. Learning about her career as a journalist excited me. Having been a full-time journalist myself (and continuing to do a lot of journalism still), I have often grappled with the dilemma of what serves my writing better: journalism or full-time fiction writing? Often, I see my journalism slipping into my writing, and a lot of writing happens in the longreads I write. But both forms of writing have their constraints, which often lead one to eventually make the lip leap as a literary writer as one thinks the genre serves the writing better. Interesting interviewing her.

In the second, I ask her questions relating to her travels. Some interesting answers here as well.
